LiftMaster opener logic board repair in Henderson typically runs $120 – $320 installed, depending on your model and whether the board needs replacement or a component-level fix. We stock logic boards for most LiftMaster models on our trucks, and in many cases we can have your opener working the same day you call.
Most Henderson homeowners discover a logic board failure the hard way: the opener stops responding to the wall button, the remotes go dead at the same time, or the unit starts opening and closing on its own. The logic board is the brain of your opener, the flat green circuit panel inside the motor housing that receives signals and tells the motor what to do. When it goes, the whole system goes quiet. You’ll usually hear the opener hum faintly or click when you press the button, but nothing moves. That’s the board failing to send the command.
Wade Mercer tells his crew the same thing on every logic board call: “Tell me what it’s doing. I’ll tell you what it costs.” Over two decades in the trade, he’s learned that a five-minute conversation about symptoms beats a two-hour diagnosis guess. Half the time, what sounds like a dead board is a failed capacitor or a loose wire. The other half, we swap the board and you’re back in business before dinner.
Which LiftMaster Models This Applies To
Logic board failures show up across the LiftMaster line, but we see them most often in three series: the Security+ 2.0 models (8355, 8360, 8550, 8587), the older Security+ 315MHz units (3255, 3265, 3280), and the belt-drive Premium Series (8550W, 8580W). If you have a Chamberlain or Genie opener with similar symptoms, we stock compatible boards for those too.
Here’s the gotcha most people hit: the logic board is not universal. LiftMaster changed board architecture when they moved from Security+ (315MHz) to Security+ 2.0 (390MHz), and again with MyQ Wi-Fi integration. A board from an 8355 will not talk to remotes from a 3255 system. The board part number is printed on a white sticker on the board itself, usually starting with “41A” or “41D.” If you can pull that number before you call, we’ll know exactly what to bring.
For Henderson homes, we generally recommend OEM LiftMaster boards over aftermarket equivalents. The aftermarket boards work, but we’ve seen higher failure rates in our climate. The summer heat out here, especially in garages that hit 110°F+ in July and August, stresses capacitors and solder joints. OEM boards are rated for that heat. Aftermarket boards sometimes aren’t, and a board that fails in 18 months isn’t a bargain.

Signs Your LiftMaster Opener Logic Board Is Failing
- The opener does nothing when you press the wall button or remote. If the wall button lights up and the opener clicks but the motor doesn’t engage, the board is receiving the signal but not sending the drive command. This is the classic board failure signature.
- It opens by itself, at random, usually in the middle of the night. A failing board can send phantom open commands. Henderson homeowners report this one a lot. For the record, it happened at 3 a.m. here more times than we can count.
- Remotes and keypads lost programming and won’t re-learn. The memory chip on the board handles pairing. When that chip fails, the opener forgets every remote you’ve ever programmed, and relearning fails because the board can’t write new codes.
- The opener runs for a second, then stops, then runs the other direction. This can be a travel module failure on the board. The unit loses its sense of where the door is, so it reverses as a safety response.
- Burnt smell or visible scorch marks near the motor housing. A power surge can cook the board. In Henderson, monsoon-season lightning strikes and grid flickers are the usual culprits. We see a spike in logic board calls every August.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
Logic board replacement in Henderson typically lands between $120 and $320 installed. The spread comes down to your opener’s age and series. Older Security+ boards run on the lower end. Security+ 2.0 boards with MyQ Wi-Fi run higher because the boards themselves cost more. If your opener is 15+ years old and the board is discontinued, we’ll find a compatible equivalent or tell you straight if a new opener makes more sense.
Our price includes the board, the labor, programming all your remotes and keypads back in, and testing the full cycle. We also check the capacitor and wiring while we’re in there, because a weak capacitor can kill a new board within months. The price we hand you before we start is the price on the invoice. No surprises at the door, and the repair is covered in writing for 365 days. If that board fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge.

A logic board swap is not a spring repair. You’re not dealing with dangerous tension, but you are dealing with a live electrical unit. Unplugging the opener is step one and non-negotiable. Beyond that, the risk is getting the wrong board, damaging the connector pins during install, or misprogramming the travel limits so the door crushes something. We’ve fixed a lot of $90 DIY board installs that turned into $200 fixes because the pins bent or the wrong firmware went in.
What you can safely do before calling: check the outlet for power, check the breaker, and pull the part number off the board sticker. That last one saves time. If the part number starts with “41A” or “41D,” text it to us when you call. If you’d rather not open the cover at all, no problem. Our techs carry the most common Henderson boards on the truck, and they’ll diagnose the exact board on site. Call us at (775) 458-8864 and we’ll get you sorted.
FAQs
A LiftMaster logic board typically lasts 10 to 15 years in Henderson, though boards exposed to frequent power surges or unventilated garages that bake in summer heat can fail earlier. We see boards die as early as 7 years in garages without ventilation. A surge protector on the opener circuit adds real lifespan out here.
Sometimes yes. If the failure is a blown capacitor or a cracked solder joint, a component-level repair can fix it for less than a full board replacement. If the main processor or memory chip is fried, the board is done. We’ll test it before we recommend anything, and we’ll show you what we found. Call (775) 458-8864 and we’ll walk through what your board is doing.
Most logic board replacements take 30 to 60 minutes, including reprogramming remotes and testing the full open/close cycle. If we have the board on the truck, it’s a single visit. If your model needs a board we don’t stock, we order it and you’re looking at 2 to 3 business days.
Yes. Our Henderson trucks carry the most common LiftMaster logic boards for Security+ and Security+ 2.0 models, plus compatible Chamberlain and Genie boards. If your part number is uncommon, we’ll pull the exact board from our supplier fast, usually within two business days.
